Hugo Winder-Lind

(b.1992)  Hugo Winder-Lind’s  artistic vision is one based on conceptual artistic lessons.

He welcomes the inherent uncertainty of outcomes allowing each piece to impart new

insights, whether familiar or entirely novel. Whether working with oil on canvas,
sculpture, performance or writing, he believes he speaks a dialogue that can be
directed towards “the universe itself... through the microscopic relationship between
the pigment and the page.” He transforms objects, images and words into powerful
ambassadors of this vision.

From his studio in Brighton, Hugo draws his inspiration from rural England and the wild
liminal spaces between wild landscape and civilisation. Central to Winder-Lind’s artistic
philosophy is the deliberate avoidance of placing a human-centric viewpoint at the
forefront of his creations. His cross discipline approach creates recognisable motifs
centred in landscape and folklore extending into contemporary science, philosophy,
religion and archeology. Winder-Lind has written two books and his works have been
published in scientific papers, presented in galleries in the UK and Europe.
