Frederika Dalwood

Frederika Dalwood (b. 1996 in London, United Kingdom) lives and works in London. Characterized by a strange intersection between nature and artificiality, Dalwood challenges our expectations of authenticity in contemporary society. Her landscapes are enigmatic yet eerily familiar with objects out of context in relation to time and place and a sense of ambiguity between reality and illusion. Collaged from a combination of her own photographs of obscure natural forms, architecture, ancient artifacts and digitally rendered constructions, the assembled scenes echo something between a folkloric ritual and a video game. In Dalwood’s dioramas the natural order is replaced with another order which fuses the past and the present, the organic and the inorganic, the interior and the exterior. She received an MFA in Fine Art Media from the Slade School of Fine Art in 2023 and was awarded the Sarabande Grant for Emerging Artists to produce the artwork for her degree show. Dalwood's debut solo exhibition 'Actual Thing', was exhibited at Modern Animals Gallery in Zurich in October 2024.
